San Juan Cemetery
San Juan Cemetery is located near the north-western tip of the Old San Juan neighborhood of San Juan along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. It is along the outskirts of El Morro Fort and thus you can see kites flying on the horizon from the lawns of the fort. San Juan Cemetery is the final resting place for many prominent Puerto Ricans and was originally opened in the early 1800's. Near the center of the cemetery is a chapel with a colorful dome, named for Saint Mary Magdalene of Pazzis, which is the surrounded by ornate headstones, statues, and monuments.
The cemetery is free of charge to access, however don't go at night because of safety issues due to its proximity to a poor area of town. Take Norzagaray Street to access the cemetery.
