Parque de Bombas
Parque de Bombas, located in downtown Ponce Puerto Rico, is currently both a museum as well as a main tourist information center. It is located next to the Our Lady of Guadalupe Cathedral in the Plaza de las Delicias. It is two stories tall and is painted a distinctive black and red and it is quite eye-catching.
The building houses a firefighter museum highlighting the volunteer firefighters as well as showcasing an old Ford Model T firetruck. The museum contains historical firefighting gear as well as displays highlighting the fire history of the region. Originally, Parque de Bombas was built for an agricultural exhibition for a trade fair in 1882. One year later, in 1883, the building was converted into a firehouse for the city. It served as a firehouse for over 100 years, until it was finally converted into the museum and tourist information center it is today in 1990.
