Our Lady of Guadalupe Cathedral
Our Lady of Guadalupe Cathedral, sometimes referred to simply as Ponce Cathedral, is located in the middle of Plaza de las Delicias in downtown Ponce, Puerto Rico. It is also adjacent to Parque de Bombas, which is also in the middle of the plaza.
The cathedral is located where an original chapel was constructed in the 1660's. The original structure was destroyed and rebuilt several times over the years by earthquakes and fires. The cathedral standing today was built in 1931 and was most recently remodeled in 2007. The existing structure includes two steeples and three domes. In addition, some portions of the existing structure date back to the 1800's.
Our Lady of Guadalupe Cathedral is free of charge to enter and tour. The cathedral is open from 6am to 1pm Monday through Friday and from 6am to noon and again from 3pm to 8pm on Saturday and Sunday. Note that the cathedral has regular church services daily, so if you are simply going to view the cathedral you may want to plan around the services.
