Museo de la Musica Puertorriquena

Museo de la Musica Puertorriquena (Museum of Puerto Rican Music) is located about three blocks east of Plaza de las Delicias in Ponce along Isabel Street and Salud Street. The museum houses many great musical instruments from a variety of musical backgrounds that have influenced Puerto Rican music including Spain and Africa. Influential musicians and their stories and artifacts are also on display. Museo de la Musica Puertorriquena also puts on performances from local musicians in its courtyard as well as lessons on how to contruct instruments.

Housed is Casa Serralles, which was built in 1911 for the Serralles family as their downtown residence. The Serralles family also owned and lived in the Serralles Castle.

Museo de la Musica Puertorriquena operating days are Wednesday through Sunday (closed on Mondays and Tuesdays). Operating times are 8:30am to 4pm and it is free of charge to visit the museum. Call ahead for operating hours and additional museum information at 787-844-7016.
